The design process followed the concept of “Our Space” to merge the ideas of the Architect and Client’s aspirations. The client also being an academic architect wanted a tropical looking architecture that broke away from the modern design elements and yet also look contemporary too. The interiors are kept simple, uncluttered & minimalistic, to compliment the overall design philosophy and vision for space. The versatile wood is used to comply with the material choice of the client. The wooden joinery & claddings subsequently lent itself to exteriors & interiors in many different ways. These wooden elements are contrasted by the pastel shades & concrete texture finish. Seamlessly, the other surfaces follow an elemental rigour – bespoke in polished cement plaster for the walls & ceilings. The Staircase & the Lift segregates the recreational areas, private bed rooms, social living spaces across all floors. The tangible charm of the traditional lifestyle can be experienced amid this contemporary residence .
